Very nice Vega white laydie banjo with recent 5 string conversion neck. The maker of the neck is unknown but it is of very high quality. The fretboard inlays are style 2 but the peghead overlay looks to be the original style 9 (from the original tenor neck perhaps ?) which matches the purfling on the rim. There is also a concealed adjustable trussrod.
Serial number (99088) would suggest 1950 from the published info, is marked on both on the rim and on the dowel stick, although the stick is also marked style 2. Bracket band with through-the-rim bolts. Presto style tailpiece. Planetary tuners.
Very good condition, plenty of patina on the pot and headstock and some marks in the varnish on the back of the neck . Plays very well and has a powerful bright sound.
